DICONDE

DICONDE is the abbreviation for Digital Imaging and Communication for Non-Destructive Evaluation and is a standardized file format for displaying, transmitting, and storing digitally generated image data and information in non-destructive testing (NDT). In addition to the actual inspection data, all necessary metadata relating to the inspection procedure and conditions required for reproducibility of the inspection results are stored.

DICONDE enables a software- and system-independent exchange of data as well as the display of images between different DICONDE-compliant systems. DICONDE is formally defined in the ASTM E2339 standard and is based on the medical standard DICOM, which has been expanded to meet industrial requirements. Changes and additions from the DICOM standard are also regularly incorporated. Due to the increasing digitization and networking of systems, DICONDE is becoming more and more important in NDT.

DICONDE can be used for the following NDT inspection methods: radiographic testing (RT-D/RT-CT), ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current testing (ET), and visual testing (VT).
